US Indonesia Investment Initiative

An ongoing dialogue with the Indonesian government to help create an environment that will attract increased US investment and business activity.

The US-Indonesia Investment Initiative gives US companies, both large and small, the opportunity to engage directly with the Indonesian government, better understand Indonesian dynamics and gain greater access to one of the world’s most important – and challenging – markets. It also offers activities throughout the year both in Indonesia and in Washington, DC through our partnership with the US Chamber of Commerce.

The Initiative has successfully raised awareness of the benefits of US economic activity for Indonesia’s development and advocated for changes in key regulations. As a result of this work, we are increasingly seen as a partner in moving the country toward a more business-friendly environment. Throughout the year, the Initiative brings participating companies into engagements with senior officials in areas such as financial services, information technology, fast moving consumer goods, agribusiness, life sciences, creative economy, oil and gas and mining.

The year culminates in the annual US Indonesia Investment Summit, which involves the key economic ministers of President Joko Widodo’s cabinet, and features the release of an annual investment report.
