140828 [UPDATE] Aviation Industry News

From the desk of Robert Laing, AmCham Indonesia’s Aerospace Committee Chair, and David Jensen, Aerospace Committee co-Chair

*******************

Colleagues,

The Committee would like to update you on some of the air transportation industry related events occurring in Indonesia.

Aviation Cooperative Council – the US Department of Commerce has approved a USD25,000 grant to hold a seminar in September of this year. The effort is spearheaded by Rosemary Gallant, the new senior commercial officer at the US Commercial Service in Jakarta, and is expected to be supported and attended by the FAA, AirNav Indonesia, and both Angkasapuras, as well as Indonesian carriers. Please see below for further details.

Green Aviation 2014 – coincident with Indodefense 2014, the Green Airports and Aviation Indonesia 2014 will be taking place at the Jakarta Convention Center. More details can be found here.

I2AT 2015 – the Indonesia International Airport Technology 2015 conference will be held 2-4 September 2015. The organizers are currently taking reservations for booth space. More details can be found here.

If you know of any other events in Indonesia that are relevant to the commercial/civilian aviation and air transportation industries, please let us know.

With the upcoming change in administration we are hopeful that the implementing regulation for offsets and technology transfer for defense procurements will be released. Once it is, the Committee will make it available to the membership and discuss a coherent response.

U.S. Indonesia Aviation Cooperation Planning Workshop

On September 23 we will hold a roundtable discussion on Indonesia’s aviation challenges and priorities with representatives of AP1, AP2 , DGCA and hopefully AirNav.  The purpose will be to develop support for the Aviation Cooperation Council by coming up with some specific programs that will address Indonesia’s needs and increase the cooperation between U.S. and Indonesia.   If you are interested in helping shape the U.S. Indonesia Aviation Cooperation Council and want to hear more from Indonesia’s airport operators and civil aviation authority, please consider joining this workshop.   To facilitate discussion we will limit participation to one person per company and may have to limit the number of companies but we will provide detailed readout from the event.

Proposed September 23, 2014 agenda:

9-10       U.S. companies and U.S. government agencies discussion

10:30     Coffee

11 -12    Presentations from Airport operators and DGCA

12           FAA presentation on regional trends and capacity

12:15     FCS presentation on benefits and best practices from cooperation programs elsewhere

12:30-2 Networking and Brainstorming lunch

2-3          Follow up action planning
